21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

January 9-29, 2023

Join us as we start 2023 with a church-wide 21 days of prayer and fasting! Our desire is for our Promise Center Family to start off 2023, not just with resolutions, but with fresh revelations! During these 21 days, we are drawing closer to God in prayer, and pushing away the world through fasting.

Our 21 days will begin Monday, January 9th and end Sunday, January 29th. We encourage each person participating to prayerfully consider what kind of fast the Lord would have you do. You can find more information on fasting through the resources below.

We will be working through, "Pursuit - 21 Days Prayer & Fasting Devotional" by Pastor Dave Patterson as a congregation. Books will be available for purchase soon in the Connect Center.

Fasting

There are many different types of fasts to enter into.
We encourage you to read the information below on each type, and pray about which one is right for you.

Soul Fast

This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health conditions that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. Soul fasts do not involve fasting food, but rather fasting certain elements of your daily life that can serve as distractions from engaging with God. For example. You might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast.

Partial Fast

This fast is sometimes called the “Jewish Fast” and involves not eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.

Selective Fast

This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove processed foods and focus on consuming specific food groups. You can learn more about the Daniel Fast here.

Complete Fast

In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option. Please do not enter into a complete fast if you have medical conditions that will worsen due to lack of food and nutrition. We encourage you to choose another type of fast, like the ones listed above.
